Spinal Qigong

PRESENTATION

The Importance of the Spinal Cord

As we know that the spinal cord is an important part of our body. With many important nerves running through the spine, it acts as a two conduction system between the brain and the peripheral nervous system. It also serves as a control for simple reflex actions

Any damage to spinal cord can be very destructive and disastrous to our body. It is therefore important to take good care of our spine by strengthening it and keeping it safe from injury.

What is Spinal Qigong?

Spinal Qigong is a set of exercises that concentrates on the constructive movement of the spinal vertebrae.

The basic steps in this exercise consists of four movements:

1. Front / Back movement

2. Left/Right movement

3. Turning Movement

4. Combination of the above 3 movements

How does the Spinal Qigong work?

In this method of Qigong, we vibrate the spine slowly in various manners to achieve a thorough exercise of the whole spine. At the same time, we are effectively stimulating the nerve fibres along it, helping them to function better. In the process, we are also activating all our internal organs because of the intimate relation to the spine.

We can thus see that the Spinal Qigong functions more than strengthening the spinal cord. Paralyzed patients (below waist level) can also practice the Spinal Qigong in a sitting position to enhance a better flow of his Qi ( energy )

How can Spinal Qigong Helps you?

Nowadays back pain is a big problem among the young and old population.

Back pain may be responsible for: discomfort, sickness absence, loss of concentration and bad performance at school, work place and home.

Can the Spinal Qigong relieve my back problem?

First of all, you have to understand the causes of your back problem. Back problems can be caused by mental and/or physical reasons. Some of the physical causes includes injury, slip-disc and bad postures. Whereas mental causes are normally stress due to personality imbalance, work pressure and family problems etc.

You also need to understand that your back problems do not occur overnight, unless due to accident. It is the result of long term processes that cause unhealthy effect on your back. thus, it requires time to revert or relieve these negative effects.

As this method of Spinal Qigong requires you to move your spinal cord, the result is thus direct and more immediate. This method also emphasis a great deal on physical and mental relaxation, thus achieving very good result with the combination of movement and relaxation.

Moreover, the movement is barely 15 degrees so there should be no negative effect or stress on the spine if practiced according to instruction.

While practicing the Qigong, you should try to eliminate the cause(s) of your back problems to achieve a faster and better result.
